Neil Young 1971
Neil Young’s recent release of Live at Massey Hall his stellar performance in Toronto some 35 years ago is utterly fantastic. There are two people in the music world. Those who love Neil and those who don’t. While I wont get into the finer details of why you SHOULD love Neil I will say that if you listen to this album and don’t walk away with a new appreciation of the artist than nothing will change your mind. This definitive collection of Neil solo on stage with nothing more than his Guitar and Harmonica is pure butter for this fan’s ears. The subtleties of his young voice, the power of his poetics, the shear boldness of a young man, all shine through in sonic pleasure. This album / performance puts Neil at his peak in a wonderfully remastered edition. To hear him play Harvest right before it’s release is jaw dropping. Here is a track for your pleasure. If you are a fan than you NEED this album.
