Bright Eyes - Arlington Theater Santa Barbara

Bright Eyes graced the Arlington’s theater stage last night along with about a dozen band mates all dressed in white for a BIG performance. The last time I saw Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) play was at The Santa Barbara Bowl. He whether due to his sudden Indie fame or his youth was rather subdued for that performance. It seems though Conor has learned a few things about showmanship. The band was flanked by a six piece mini orchestra a pianist, two drummers and a percussionist in addition to the obligatory Bass, and Lead guitar. All dressed in white against a 60’s style projection the imagery alone was a treat. But the real treat was the BIGness that the band produced. Finding their way through his collection of songs they took Bright Eyes on a sonic journey elevating the simplistic tunes to a new level….more to come
